No. 3 Kikouzan Konsen-ji

Konsen-jiHistory and origin of

This temple was opened by the imperial prayer of Emperor Shomu (reign 724~49) and referred to as Konkomyo-ji, but when Kobo Daishi was doing a preaching tour, dug a well for the local residents who were suffering from drought, miraculous water sprung out, so the temple was renamed "Konsen-ji". During the Genpei battle, Minamoto no Yoshitsune stopped over to pray for victory on his way to Yashima. "Benkei-ishi" (Benkei stone) where Yoshitsune had Benkei test his strength on, also remains.
