Kokubun-jiHistory and origin of
One of the Kokubun-ji that was built on the imperial prayer of Emperor Shomu. The entire area is full of historical landmarks designated by the country. Chosokabe Motochika rebuilt the main hall (Kondo) in Eiroku year 1 (1558) and is designated important cultural property of the country. The external appearance of shingled-roof and hipped roof relays to us the Tenpyo style and the ebikoryo (arched beam used in shrine and temple construction) is said to be the oldest in Tosa and one can see the features of the Muromachi Period. In the precinct where you can see the vestiges of the 1250 years is a beautiful garden with hair moss and is also called "Tosa no Kokedera" (moss temple of Tosa).
