No. 32 Hachiyozan Zenjibu-ji

Zenjibu-jiHistory and origin of

Because it is on the top of Minesan, 82m in altitude close to the Tosa Bay, locals call this "Minen-ji", "Mine-dera" or "Mine-ji". The origin was when Gyoki founded the temple to pray for the safety of the ship that sail off the coast of Tosa and even now the people who work on the ocean have strong faith for it. The Nio (or Kongorikishi) figure was built by a Buddhist sculptor Jomyo from the Kamakura Period, and is designated an important cultural property. There are many bizarre rocks in the precinct and gives off a sequestered atmosphere.
