No. 33 Kofukuzan Sekkei-ji

Although it was named Kofuku-ji at the time it was founded, a famous Buddha sculptor father and son team Unkei and Tankei resided there and created the Buddha statues including the principal image, so was renamed Keiun-ji. It went into ruins once but Chosokabe Motochika invited Geppo Osho from the Rinzai sect and rejuvenated the temple. After the death of Motochika, it became the family temple for the Motochika Family and was renamed Sekkei-ji from the posthumous Buddhist name of Motochika. It is close to Katsurahama, known as an attraction for the moon. Has 16 bodies of Buddha designated important cultural property.
