No. 35 Iozan Kiyotaki-ji

Kiyotaki-jiHistory and origin of

Kobo Daishi who visited during the Konin Period (810~824) built a platform on a rock 300m away from the main hall and prayed for bumper crops and said prayers and austerities. It is said that when the pilgrim's staff was used to tap the platform when the vow was fulfilled, clear water started flowing from the top of the rock. This water moistened the fields and paddies at the base, and contributed to the start of washi (Japanese paper) industry originating from Tosa. It is a famous temple for warding off evils and the symbol is the large standing statue of Bhaiṣajyaguru in the precinct.
