No. 38 Sadasan Kongofuku-ji

Located in the middle of the hillside overlooking Ashizuri Cape, the precinct boasts an area of 12 million square meters. Kobo Daishi sensed, in the Pacific Ocean spread beyond the cape, the ideal world of Holy Land and Mount Potalaka. He reported to Emperor Saga (reign 809~823) and is said to have built a Buddhist temple by imperial prayer. Ruins called "Ashizuri's seven wonders" which is said to originate from Daishi are scattered around the headland of Ashizuri Cape.
