No. 27 Chikurinzan Kounomine-ji

Kounomine-jiHistory and origin of

Precincts is spread on the hillside at an altitude of 450m halfway up Kaminesan. At the end of the Edo Period, the mother of Yataro Iwasaki, the founder of the Mitsubishi Conglomerate prayed for the career of her son, and climbed the steep slope for 21 days (3-7 days) from her house 20km away. The age of history of auspiciousness is prominent and it is said that the origin was a Shinto shrine dedicated to Amaterasu by Empress consort Jingū (reign 201~269). During the separation of the Gods and Buddha in the Meiji Period this temple was considered a shrine, and the principal image was deposited to the 26th Kongocho-ji. On both sides of the stone steps to the main hall are beautiful Japanese gardens.
