Because it is the farthest from Ryōzen-ji, it is also called "the back checkpoint of Shikoku hallowed ground". Kobo Daishi visited the land in response to the imperial order of Emperor Heize (reign 806~809), carved and enshrined Bhaiṣajyaguru the principal image, Amida Nyorai and Eleven-faced Kannon for the side temple from one sacred tree, and opened the temple. The temple gate is about 7m tall and made totally from the zelkova tree. Sand from various hallowed ground is paved around the Daishi hall, so you can do a sand tour.
