Kannon-jiHistory and origin of

Although it was called the Jingujihokoin, Kobo Daishi became the 7th chief priest and entered the mountain. Daishi built a complete seven-structured temple compound and carved the Sacred Avalokitesvara as the principal image and enshrined it. In addition, since he built the pagoda and pacified the land by burying seven jewels, the temple name was changed to Shipposankannon and established as hallowed ground. The main hall, also called the golden hall, is constructed in the Muromachi Period style, and is designated an important cultural property. Inside there is a graffiti saying of Jōwa year 3 (1347) and is documented as an important pilgrimage culture material.
