No. 76 Keisokuzan Konzo-ji

Konzo-jiHistory and origin of

Konzo-ji is where Chisho Daishi - Kobo Daishi's nephew and the founder of Tendaijimon sect - was born. According to auspiciousness, in Houki year 5 when Kobo Daishi was born, Chisho Daishi's grandfather Wake Douzen established it. Afterwards Chisho Daishi who returned from Tang, constructed a temple imitating the Shoryu-ji in Tang, carved the Bhaiṣajyaguru as the principal image. Statues of Kobo Daishi and Chisho Daishi are enshrined in the Taishido.
