No. 13 Ogurizan Dainichi-ji

Dainichi-jiHistory and origin of

While Kobo Daishi was performing homa at "Daishigamori" (forest), the Nyorai Buddha appeared with a purple cloud and revealed the building of a temple. Daishi carved the Nyorai Buddha as the principal image and founded the temple and enshrined the statue. Until the Edo Period it was a Miya-shrine's separate temple for the total tutelary for Awa, but upon the separation of the God and Buddha in the Meiji Period, it made the Eleven-faced Kannon as the principal image.
